Robotics in motion
A workshop by Robert Saucier and KIT Collaboration
In conjunction with the exhibition, Virutorium by KIT collaboration and Robert Saucier please join us for the following workshop.
This introductory workshop on robotics will be hands-on, the demonstrations will be with the actual electronic components, sensors and power devices. The workshop will focus on the specific needs of the artist starting in using robotic: assess your needs, keep it simple and affordable. There will also be a short theoretical outline of how robotics are used in art and where they are situated in a cultural context in 2011. The workshop will examine the following aspects :
Controlling the interaction and the action :
-Choosing the right microcontroller
-Basic programming
Interaction:
-different types of sensor and detectors
Interfacing with microcontrollers
Action:
-Motorizing (different motors for different needs in robotic installation)
-IC to bridge the gap between power devices and microcontrollers
Building:
-Trying to build cheap and durable
-What to buy and where.
-Recycling and surplus stores
-Books and resources
Time : October 1, 12-5pm
Location : Check-in at the Acadia University Art Gallery
Fees: $30 members/ $35 non members.
To Register: Workshop is designed for ages 18 and up. Registration is limited.
