As part of the celebrations for Black History Month, Acadia University is hosting a presentation by Governor General’s Award–winning writer and teacher George Elliott Clarke, who will be joined by El Jones, a spoken-word artist. This event is part of a speaking tour organized by Citizenship and Immigration Canada to bring awareness to the story of the Black Refugees from the War of 1812 who arrived and settled in Nova Scotia.
