On the Fourth Sunday of Lent, Mothering Sunday, the Choir of St. George’s "round" Church, Halifax, will sing Evensong under the direction of Garth MacPhee. Saint George's Choir is faithfully served by volunteer singers and paid section leaders, all of whom bring considerable experience, skill and passion to their art. The choir's repertoire is inspired by the English Cathedral tradition, from William Byrd to John Tavener. Each Sunday, the choir sings a different setting of the Mass, a Communion motet, in addition to the weekly round of plainsong psalms and hymns. The choir also sings for major feast days as the days occur throughout the Christian Year. Choral Evensong is held once a month from October to May.
