CentreStage Theatre presents: Lucky Stiff

A nice, quiet young man has his simple life turned upside-down when an uncle that he has never met passes away and leaves him a fortune. The will is a bit bizarre though, and in order for Harry to inherit, there is a catch. The only way he can claim the inheritance is if he takes his uncle's dead body to Monte Carlo for a fun-filled whirlwind week of snorkeling, dancing, sky diving, and gambling. The body has been specially preserved to survive such a trip. In the meantime, Anna Glick is following him around because if Harry misses doing one thing on his "vacation" as stipulated in his uncle's will, she will inherit the money instead - to set up a home for homeless, hungry dogs in New York. At the same time, Rita La Porta is scouring Monte Carlo to find Harry - the man who inherited the money she embezzled from her husband for her lover, who she accidentally shot! Does it sound serious and full of intrigue? Don't get your hopes up - it is a hilarious musical farce.

Lucky Stiff by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty is CentreStage Theatre’s upcoming production. The show is full of catchy music that will make you tap your toes and hum for days to follow. The music is quick, humorous and laden with information, but is easy to understand because all the important bits get repeated just enough.

While the show is essentially suitable for children, those that are quite young won't understand the humour in it, though they might like the music. Therefore, the play is most suitable for teens and adults.

Lucky Stiff is directed by Gertrude Bishop and stars Donna Holmes, Mindy Vinqvist-Tymchuck, Emily Oickle, Rick Mehta, Ryan Lindh, Candy O’Brien, Beth Irvine, Steven Griffin, Evan McEachern, and Karen Kerr. Musical accompaniment is provided by Masami Suzuki.

Lucky Stiff opens on Thursday, November 6 and plays every Friday and Saturday night until December 13. There will be a 2pm matinee on Sunday, December 7. Phone 678-8040 to make reservations.
