The Photo Book
Saturday March 2, 2013  11am - 4pm (5 Hours)

Considering the development and significance of the photobook, Matthieu Brouillard and Donigan Cumming will take workshop participants through the steps of editing and creating their own photo book.

This one-day workshop begins with a stack of images, scotch tape and brown paper, and ends up with a meaningful sequence and layout, ready for transfer to a digital platform. Along the way, there will be much to talk about as participants share their ideas and respond to each other's work. The ideal workshop participant is someone with images that they want to share and a passion for photo books.

Donigan Cumming’s The Stage (1991) is featured in The Photobook: A History – Volume 2, edited by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger. Matthieu Brouillard is the author of Darkness implacable (2011), a monograph of his photographic works. In 2012, they worked closely together on the creation of a two-person exhibition and publication, Coming through the Fog: les rencontres de Matthieu Brouillard et de Donigan Cumming, and their collaboration taught them a great deal more about publishing

All materials included. Participants should bring hard copies of photographs that they plan to work with.
