ARTsPLACE Artist-run Centre is pleased to present “Smackerels” by Ontario based Artist, Steve de Bruyn. “Smackerels” will be an on-site installation. The artist will be at the gallery for a few days before the opening reception on the 22nd June, to create the work using a mix of found and donated scrap materials. Visitors are welcome to stop by and meet Steve during the build process.
Steve's early artwork referenced his interest in skate culture, with installations forming functional skate ramps. His work has moved towards less functional installations, incorporating elements that hint to roller coasters, Hot Wheels play sets and marble runs.
Steve is based in London, Ontario and has exhibited widely throughout Canada. He has family ties to Nova Scotia and is a Graduate of NSCAD (2002).
The Annapolis Region Community Arts Council gratefully acknowledges the support of the Province of Nova Scotia, through The Nova Scotia Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage, the Canada Council for the Arts, our membership and community.
