Music
Gypsophilia returns to the beautiful Evergreen Theatre in Margaretsville, NS - fantastic singer/songwriter Erin Costelo shares the bill.
Halifax-based Gypsophilia was initially inspired by the music of French jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, but soon found its own distinctive sound through unique original compositions and the melding of the band members’ varied backgrounds and influences, including klezmer, funk, classical music, indie rock, hard bop and post bop. The result is an exciting and eclectic band of eight young instrumentalists whose performance and compositional abilities are first class.
Erin Costelo's songwriting is a unique blend of 1930s and 40s jazz, post punk and 60's pop. Unlike most piano playing pop musicians, Erin's eclectic influences and baritone voice allow her to avoid being defined by genre. From the first ghostly notes of Erin Costelo's debut EP, The Trouble and the Truth, the mood is set for a unique artistic experience.
