To mark Co-op Week, the Annapolis Valley Cooperative Network is hosting a second Coop Market & Film Night. This open-invitation event will shed light on the many benefits co-operatives bring to our Annapolis Valley economy. An evening of food, education, fellowship and film will celebrate co-ops in our community.
The event features meet-and-greet displays at the popular Community Wednesday Night at the Wolfville Farmers' Market with over 30 farmers, chefs and artisan vendors plus a kids corner, live music and market supper. Try a $10 market supper - includes plate, salad, bread and vouchers for delicious local food from a variety of vendors. Co-op presenters will offer draw prizes of co-op swag. A panel of co-op members from Careforce, Valley Credit Union, and Acadia Cinema Coop will discuss “Why be part of a Co-op?” and pre-registration is not required.
Free films from 5–9pm presented at the Acadia Cinema Co-op’s Al Whittle Theatre will feature NFB animated shorts from 5 - 7pm followed at 7 – 8:30pm by Shift Change. This important new documentary tells the little known stories of employee-owned businesses that compete successfully in today’s economy, providing secure, dignified jobs in democratic workplaces.
All are invited on a drop-in basis.
