We are raising funds to help with the added expenses Joey Johnstone and Michelle Ferguson are incurring during Joey's treatments and recovery.
Joey, who was raised in Waterville and has been a resident of New Minas for several years, was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor (Grade 4 Glioblastoma) in August of this year. He had 98% of the tumor removed and now is undergoing 6 weeks of radiation and chemo treatments in Halifax, where they have to stay Monday to Friday. Due to the tumor and the medications Joey does not have the feeling of his left side and is unable to move around unassisted (hopefully this is temporary). Michelle has been at Joey’s side 24/7 since the diagnoses and has taken a leave from her own job to be with him. Her dedication has been a great inspiration for Joey (and all of us) and will help him on his road to recovery knowing she is there to take care of him.
We will be having Ticket Auction draws and Live Auctions throughout the afternoon, 50/50 draw at 4pm and Live entertainment including Addison Locke; Nancy Drennan; Ivan Daniels and Friends; Alan Butler; Connie Stokes-Munroe and Kitchen Country! There will be a canteen on site serving hotdogs, chili and much more.
