Cinderella (an English Pantomime)
(written by Judy Dickinson)
The Annapolis District Drama Group
In England no Christmas is complete without a visit to a Patomime. A pantomime is a very humorous telling of familiar fairy story – Cinderella. Ella welcomes her father home only to find he has remarried. Her stepmother has two daughters, ugly sisters indeed for Cinderella. Three is a handsome prince, a bossy Queen, and a downtrodden king.
The story takes place in Happiness Royal and its Christmas Market opens the story full of happy villagers buying and selling, singing and dancing to tell everyone that “Happiness Royal is the place to be.”
The story is introduced by a mysterious storyteller and, of course, saved by a rather clutzy Fairy Godmother. At the center of the plot are Buttons and Bows. Many are the hilarious twists and turns but love conquers all with the help of a little magic. If you enjoy a good laugh and are still young enough at heart to enjoy fairy tales this pantomime is for you and all the family. Music Director is Noelle Lucas and the pantomime is directed by Brian Dickinson.
