Swingology takes you back to Paris of the 1930s, when gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli formed the Quintet of the Hot Club of France, infusing the swing music of the era with the sounds of the gypsy camps and the rowdy Parisian dance halls to create a unique style unmatched for its driving rhythm, inventiveness, and excitement. Swingology is dedicated to bringing this style of jazz to new fans in Nova Scotia and beyond. Their songs range from classics of the swing era and Django originals to popular tunes and movie/TV themes of today, all done in the irresistible gypsy jazz style. Swingology consists of six musicians – three gypsy guitars, violin, bass, and vocals. Their third CD Taking a Chance was honoured as 2013 Jazz Recording of the Year by Music Nova Scotia.
