An Evening with Janice Jackson and Sylvie Proulx
Presented by, King's Theatre and Musique Royale
Contemporary music extraordinaire, soprano, Janice Jackson, and virtuoso guitarist, Sylvie Proulx, team up for Salsa Barocca, a Spanish program that explores the Latin American folk genre along with Spanish and South American Baroque repertoire with music from Spain, Bolivia, Peru, and beyond. Selections feature voice and guitar arrangements ranging from chanonas to tangos and reflect the African indigenous and European influences that define Latin American music. With their extensive experience in contemporary, baroque, and tango, Salsa Barocca is a natural extension of the duo's quest for exciting, unique, and moving programs.
Janice Jackson has sung over 200 world premieres, many works written specifically for her, and performed with contemporary music ensembles, in modern music festivals and concert halls around the world.
Canadian virtuoso guitarist, Sylvie Proulx has performed throughout Canada, the United States, and England. A champion of new works for the guitar, she has presented numerous Canadian world-premieres.
