It is Acadia Night at the market on Wednesday, November 5th, 4-7pm!   Please come and meet students, faculty and staff from one of the country’s top educational institutions while enjoying a Market Supper and getting your mid-week top up.   Professors will answer questions about their research.   Students will share information about their community initiatives.   Student groups from the Wong International Centre, S.M.I.L.E, Kinderskills and Chemistry Club will be offering activities for the kids (from making slime to learning origami) and Acadia Improv will be performing live.  

ACADIA NIGHT  Performers:

MC for the Night:   An Acadia Student from the Wolfville Toastmasters Club

Music (4:30-7pm):  Acadia students Dewey Dunnington & Cailun Campbell with Melissa Comeau will perform throughout the night

Wolfville Toastmasters Club (4:50-5pm):   Acadia and Community Forging relationships through Toastmasters

Acadia Improv! (5:30-5:45 pm) :  We don’t know, because they will be making it up on the spot!:)

Title: Water Quality and Chemical Analysis

Dr. Anthony Tong’s research group studies emerging organic contaminants, develops novel treatment methods for wastewater, and explores chemical composition of wines and beverages.


Title: Animal Tracking

Dr. Trevor Avery’s research group monitors and analyzes fish, amphibian, and mammal activity with trail cameras, tagging, and observations to gain an understanding of movement patterns and population demographics.


Title: Research in Nutrition Education and Dietetic Practice

Dr. Catherine Morley’s research interests include nutrition education approaches informed by client/ caregiver narratives of eating/feeding with illness or changed health status, historical origins of medical nutrition therapy (‘therapeutic diets’), and critical dietetics.


ACADIA NIGHT Participants

  • Acadia's 2nd Annual Aboriginal Arts & Literature MAWIO'MI:  The Mawio'mi (gathering) is a cross-campus, community-wide public event, with the Arts and Literature showcase and sale in heart of the campus. The theme for the public event, health and well-being.
  • Acadia Chemistry Club:  Will be demonstrating how to make SLIME at their booth
  • Acadia Improv is a collective of improvised theatre performers who specialize in making things up right before an audience's eyes. Our community holds regular improv 'jam sessions' that are open to anyone, as well as performances around the Town of Wolfville.
  • Acadia School of Nutrition and Dietetics:   Kitchen Wizards Program in Partnership with Wolfville Farmers’ Market (Kids Sign Up and Get Your Kitchen Wizard Passports)
  • SMILE Program:  The S.M.I.L.E. program provides an environment of play and fun that fosters fundamental motor development for children and youth with varying ability levels and develops leadership skills for Acadia University Students which lead to a lifetime of success.
  • Kinderskills:  a program of the Kinesiology Department of Acadia that provides preschool aged children with a variety of movement activities in order to promote their development.
  • Open Acadia: an Acadia University's initiative to offer flexible programming and learning opportunities to Acadia students and the greater community. Our programming goes beyond the scope of the conventional university experience to offer education to youths, seniors, and working professionals.
  • Vaughan Memorial Library:  Located at the centre of campus, the Vaughan Memorial Library provides many services and specialized collections, which support the teaching and research programs of the University.   We welcome community members to use our great space, as well as, our wide variety of resources. You can borrow books, DVDs and CDs with your public library card or a free Novanet card! You may use our guest computers, or log on to our guest network while on campus to use all our electronic resources.
  • Wolfville Toastmasters Club:  The Wolfville Toastmasters Club is a unique and proven program for developing communication and leadership skills in a supportive atmosphere. We learn how to organize our thoughts and to present them clearly. Regular and constructive feedback from other learners provides an environment of support which bolsters confidence.
  • Wong International Centre:  Origami, Chopstick Challenge, and Trivia Game
  • World University Service of Canada:WUSC Acadia is a student run group that focuses on international education, where we especially focus on people whom have been displaced from their home countries. We help these people through the various WUSC programs such as the Student Refugee Program, The Shine a Light Campaign, and The Bike for AIDS Campaign.

Regular Wednesday Community Night @ the Market Activity:

The $10 Market Supper (4pm-7pm):   Just pay $10 dollars and in return get complimentary bread and salad plus $10 in coupons that you can use with any different vendor on any Wednesday.The Market Supper is enjoyed with real plate, cutlery, water glass and community seating.


30 Vendors Including (4pm-7pm):  10 prepared food vendors offering Market Supper options plus fruit, veggies, meat (pork, beef, chicken), eggs, tofu, bread, milk, cheese, cider, coffee, tea, soaps, woolens, jewellery, and spices.
