The Market will be awash in colour lights for our Diwali Market and Community Supper Celebration!  Many of our vendors will feature Indian-inspired food! Some highlights of the evening: a special Diwali craft for the kids and everyone who gets a Market Supper will be able to try Gulab Jamun, a special Indian dessert, thanks to Vijay of Taj Mahal Catering!  Angie Oriana Jenkins and Lindsay Graves of Sister Lotus Belly Dance Troupe will  be Bellydancing for us and the Blue Lotus Trio will be performing live with their Indian-inspired sounds of Sahara Jane (vocals, sarangi, guitar, percussion), Heidi Kalyani (frame drum, tamboura, shruti box), Ken Shorley (tabla, percussion, harmonium, vocals)

The Noodle Guy:  Curried Quark and Roasted Eggplant Casserole

Taj Mahal : Variety of Indian food and Mango Lassi


Music and Performanace:   


Blue Lotus Trio (5-7pm):  Celebrate Diwali with the Indian-inspired sounds of Blue Lotus Trio : Sahara Jane (vocals, sarangi, guitar, percussion), Heidi Kalyani (frame drum, tamboura, shruti box), Ken Shorley (tabla, percussion, harmonium, vocals).

Sister Lotus Belly Dance Troupe (6pm):  

Angie Oriana Jenkins has taught belly dance for many years and has performed in British Columbia, Mexico, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia.  She has worked with well-known acts including Cheb i Sabbah & Delhi 2 Dublin and she once opened for Modest Mouse!  She is currently studying Flamenco and has dabbled in folk dance, Afro-Brazilian dance, African dance, and Salsa. Lindsay Graves started belly dancing to foster confidence, and self esteem in herself. She has been dancing since high school and has been taking classes with Angie Oriana Jenkins for almost two years.

When we purchase products for our own store we purchase from the local market in Vrindavan, India, where Radhika makes her home. It can literally make the difference of whether or not those shopkeepers can feed their families that day. We also a support women's initiative project and causes that stay true to our intention of helping make the world a better place. Henna by Hannah offers henna for all occasions, by appointment. My henna is custom blended with essential oils, and local coffee, and provides beautiful body art that lasts up to a week or more.*


Sahara Jane Collections brings beautiful, high quality jewellery and accessories from India. We have raw silk scarves from Varanasi, brass and macrame jewellery from Rajasthan and handwoven pure woolen scarves and stoles from the Himalayas. The wool is hand spun, hand dyed and woven using intricate traditional designs. Sahara Jane studies music and performs in India where she has connected with different crafts communities to bring their work to Canada. Part of the proceeds goes to support DARE, an organization which provides shelter, food and education to children who make their living at the train stations in Varanasi. www.facebook.com/saharajanecollections
