Christine Fernie retired from the military and retired as an auditor but she says she will never retire from Toastmasters. She is thrilled to be able to speak about her passion. Christine says that this is possible because of the training and experience she gained through Toastmasters. Being a confident public speaker supports individuals to be more effective as a member of a service organization, in their career and in their personal life.

The mission of a Toastmasters club is to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop both communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. Toastmasters is the place people go to “mess up” because there are no consequences, just supportive guidance and uplifting feedback. Members take small steps each week to incrementally and continuously move towards their goals.

As experience and success accumulates, members can move into more advanced programs and roles. The level of risk feels small as each step is carefully explained in the training materials and mentors are always available. In a surprisingly short time, a painfully shy and insecure person will begin to feel confident. The best part is that each member decides when he or she is ready for the next step because the program is self-paced.

Christine loves to educate and inform the every one about the potential power of the Toastmasters programs. Just like the Rotary club, this is another great resource available to members of the community who may benefit from what it has to offer, if only they knew what was available. Please join us to learn about the educational program and some of the unknown peripheral benefits available.
