DARE to BU 2015

Please join us for this vital community event designed to raise awareness about the effects of mental health issues; to continue honest dialog about mental health and; address the heartbreaking effects of stigma. The focus, in our 3rd year, is on hope and survival…

DARE to BU 2015 will feature guest speaker Ryan Shay; a young man who inspires hope in the face of a tragic accident which left him in a wheelchair in 2013. Vickie Porter is a young survivor who will speak to her struggles and triumphs over mental illness. You will not want to miss the telling of these uplifting life stories.

Our logo containing the health cross and heart signifies the importance of taking care of who you are. The words BRAVE/BRAVE (being courageous in being yourself) STRONG/PUISSANT (finding the strength to hold your head high) PROUD/FIÈR (being proud of exactly who you are) highlighting the letters B and U to represent the name of the run: DARE to BU! A new Acadian twist to the Dare to BU logo is the term Baille-Y meaning give it your all!

Registration begins at 8:30am. There will be professionals and interactive booths for persons of all ages, to promote holistic health and the local services which support this.

Those who partake in the run will have the choice between a 3 km (newbies and children) or a 5 km walk/run. First 200 to register get a free T-Shirt and collapsible water bottle.

Funds raised to go to the Dare to BU Event 2016; ÉcolesPlus Emergency Fund & local mental health initiatives.

Our Slogan: “Today we shall strive to create a safe and respectful space, free of stigma, where you are free to simply B U… We will then agree to take this invaluable understanding away with us in efforts to create an unconditional acceptance of all individuals… for the greater good of family and community”
