Fibre Painting with Sanna Rahola
Saturday August 22, 2015  1pm - 5pm (4 Hours)
Workshop / Class Aged 19+

 uncommoncommonart@gmail.com

An afternoon of art making with fibre artist Sanna Rahola. Each participant will have an opportunity to create their own piece of fibre art by building alternating layers of carded wool. Everyone will learn how to layer their colors in fibres like a painter works layers of paint to achieve their desired image. Raw fibres such as silk, mohair and linen will be used to accent the pieces as if using the fibres as heavy brush strokes. These accents reflect light, adding to the depth and rich texture of the art work. One of the final and most important steps of the creative process will involve subjecting the mass of loose yet carefully placed fibres to the physical and sometimes-unpredictable process of traditional felt making. The final step is wet and soapy so please dress appropriately.

Enjoy a snack from the Edible Sideshow food truck and a tutored wine tasting of certified organic wines from L’Acadie Vineyards, Nova Scotia’s premier producer of sparkling wines.
