Joe Murphy is a Maritime Blues legend who is best known for performing with his regular band, the Water Street Blues Band.
Murphy has played with a long list of legendary blues players including Otis Rush, Johnny Copeland, John Lee Hooker, Pinetop Perkins, and Sansone, to name a few. In 2009, Joe released his forth album which is a loving tribute to the traditional Chicago sound of the 50s and 60s, including live recordings and older tracks released from the CBC vaults. His performances show his heart felt sound and authenticity that is memorable for audiences.
Big Dave McLean
A master guitarist and top-notch harpist, McLean’s raw and gravelly vocals bespeak of a life lived to the fullest. Since his debut recording in 1998, Big Dave McLean is one of the top blues performers in Canada whose soulful voice and master guitar playing has toured across the country. He has won various awards throughout his career including the Great Canadian Blues Award and Western Canadian Music Award for Outstanding Blues Recording for his album “Blues From The Middle”. McLean keeps the blues tradition alive.
Watermelon Slim
Bill Homans, aka Watermelon Slim, is an American-born blues musician whose passion for music is inevitable in his performances. His 2013 album “Bull Goose Rooster” combines traditional blues with the sounds of country and rock. This diverse and dynamic Bull album affirms Watermelon Slim’s status as one of the guiding lights of contemporary American roots music. Throughout his career, Slim has gained multiple Blues Music Awards including Entertainer of the Year and Blues Album of the Year for “No Paid Holidays” in 2009.
