ORO! Orkestra is proud to present workshops in Turkish and Balkan song with the renowned vocalist Brenna MacCrimmon.

Brenna is a Toronto-based musician who specializes in the folk song traditions of Turkey and the Balkan regions of southeastern Europe. Her numerous collaborations with Turkish, Romani and Balkan musicians have resulted in exciting concerts and beautiful recordings, including the CD "Karsilama", which was produced in partnership with the late clarinet wizard, Selim Sesler. Brenna's enthusiasm and musical research have also contributed towards a resurgence of interest in certain forms of traditional music, notably from the Thracian region of Turkey.

Brenna's music has been featured in the award-winning 2005 documentary on Istanbul's music scene, "Crossing the Bridge", performing with Selim Sesler, and with the group BabaZula.

Please join us for these very special workshops. No previous experience is required.
