This intermediate workshop, with Sarah Hartland Rowe, is a chance to paint directly from the model and have a finished, figurative painting at the end of the day. Through demonstration, slide presentation, practice, and critique you will learn about posing, expression, aspects of portraiture and composition, as well as tips and techniques for drawing the model such as measuring and angling, working with matching local colour, and determining an overall value scale for the scene.
Materials ($20) include stretched canvas and drawing supplies. Students will need to bring own choice of paints.
