Kings Governance and District Boundary Review

The Municipality has recently engaged Stantec Consulting Limited to conduct a study of council size and electoral district boundaries. The study is required by the Nova Scotia Municipal Government Act, which requires all municipalities to review their council arrangements every eight years. The study being conducted will address the number of Councillors required to serve the residents of Kings County and whether County Council should continue to be led by a Warden selected by Councillors from the elected members of Council or a Mayor elected at large by all voters in the Municipality of the County of Kings.

As part of the research required for this study, Stantec is holding three public meetings during November to present the results of the survey work and other research. The dates and times of these sessions are:
•Monday, November 23: Kingston Fire Hall for the Western Region
•Wednesday, November 25: L.E. Shaw Elementary School, Avonport for the Eastern Region
•Thursday, November 26: Orchards Room, Municipal Complex for the Central Region

(Doors open 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start on all three dates.)
