Event in Room: 242
Seabirds in the Canadian Arctic inhabit a few, very large colonies, and then forage out from those sites over ice-choked waters to find food to feed themselves and feed their chicks. In this talk, Mark Mallory discusses two key aspects of his lab’s work. First, he will spend some time “looking out from the colony on the ocean”, using new tracking technologies to figure out where birds are going. Second, he’ll focus on “looking back at the colony” and assessing what these birds do to their breeding environment by feeding on the ocean and then returning in large numbers to reside at one location for several months each year. Faeces are involved.
This free event is offered by Acadia Lifelong Learning (ALL). If you enjoy the Brown Bag Lunch series, we encourage you to consider becoming an ALL member.
