Featuring artists from Boxwood’s world-renowned summer workshop and festival in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the 2016 Best of Boxwood tour features music that spans traditional music of Ireland, Cape Breton, and America. Led by the brilliant and imaginative flute playing of director Chris Norman, the musicians of Boxwood are frequently praised for their energy, originality and sheer mastery.

The ‘Best of Boxwood’ Musique Royale tour throughout the province traditionally follows the Boxwood Festival and Workshop each July in Lunenburg. Programs combine originality, intelligence, fun, and sheer mastery that have garnered respect from audiences, presenters, and colleagues alike in North America, Europe and Asia. The music brings to life the energetic traditional dance music of Maritime Canada, Scotland, & Ireland.

At the heart of the group is Chris Norman, who's brilliant and imaginative flute playing has contributed to groups as diverse as the The Baltimore Consort, Skyedance, Helicon, Chatham Baroque, Concerto Caledonia, as well as Hollywood soundtracks and seven solo recordings. His influential work as a performer, composer, recording artist, educator, and director of the Boxwood Festival & Workshop has played a significant role in reviving the flute in traditional Scottish and Canadian music. Joining Chris Norman are David Greenberg - baroque violin, Cape Breton fiddle; Alison McGillivray - baroque cello, viola da gamba; Magnus Holstrom – nyckelharpa; Yann Falquet - guitar, French Canadian & Acadian songs.
