They’ve done The Time Warp. They’ve done the Safety Dance. They’ve put Michael Jackson in a leprechaun suit and Prince Charming in dreads. They’ve sacrificed numerous red balloons to the gods of the dance floor and performed mid-set costume changes that seared the retinas of dozens. They’ve burned through ounces of fiddle rosin, at least one set of vocal cords and eighth notes beyond counting. For ten years, they’ve gleefully pillaged the riches of radio, gilding them with the joyful mania of traditional reels and fusing them into temporary epicentres of fraught-with-peril dance bliss. And now they’re saying goodbye.
With the departure of band member Ariana Nasr for points west, TripALady will play their final engagement this New Year’s Eve. Help us make it a memorable one! The bow hair will surely fly as these Eighties-obsessed acoustic dance rock fiends channel the dawn of the music video age through their patented three-part-harmony-twin-Irish-fiddle-nightflight-to-Venus-on-your-feet filter one last time.
