A Community Kitchen is a resource within a community where people can gather to learn how to prepare wholesome nutritious affordable meals. • Community Kitchens increase food security by increasing physical and economic access to adequate amounts of nutritious foods.

Our Community Kitchen
Conway Workshop Community Kitchen serves the entire community of Digby & the surrounding area. Everyone is welcome to attend our cooking sessions, special cooking classes and workshops.

We keep the cost for participants to $5 per portion. In our evening sessions we can accommodate groups of up to 8 participants preparing food for up to 12 mouths.

While the programming is open to everyone within the community we are targeting those on fixed or low incomes and those least likely to prepare nutritious meals for themselves. These vulnerable groups include:
i) Seniors
ii) Those on disability pensions
iii) Food Bank Recipients
iv) Single Parents
v) Those who are new to the area specifically immigrants, refugees and those ‘From Away’
vi) Young people starting out and needing to learn kitchen skills

Wednesdays we will explore new techniques and Whole Food recipes that may use dairy, eggs, fish and occassionally meat.

Thursdays we will adhere to Whole Food Planet-based Gluten Free recipes while exploring techniques and choices that increase the nutrient density of our meals.
