PEER SUPPORT TRAINING (FREE)
For Survivors of Sexual Violence
All genders welcome.
Note: Location is not confirmed at this time!
Choose from two separate trainings running concurrently, on Thursday afternoons or Thursday evenings.There will be three six-session modules in each training. The first two modules are given in Fall 2017, the third in Winter 2018.
Courses start September 28th, but apply early, no later than September 14th.
1. Peer Listener: Learn how to be completely present for another person on their healing journey.
2. Peer Supporter: Learn how to give support in overcoming the daily struggles faced by trauma survivors, handling triggers and emotions, clarifying values and setting goals.
3. Peer Counsellor: In depth training on a trauma-informed approach. Advanced training on assisting people to move towards the life they want to live. Diversity issues, Suicide awareness, etc.
