Please join us for this free Lunchtime Learning session presented by Acadia Lifelong Learning.
Join Linda Ellis as she gives a quick review of basic inheritance patterns and describe the regions of the genome used in DNA profiling. It will go over the techniques that are used and discuss the interpretation and reliability of results. There will also be a brief discussion of its use in the court room and the ethics of these kinds of analyses.
Following a high school teaching career, Linda Ellis earned a graduate degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ and began a new career teaching at the university level. While living in Grenada, WI, she taught at St. George's University in their pre-med program. Following her return to the US, she taught at Monmouth University in NJ. Courses taught include: Developmental Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Forensic Genetics and DNA Analysis. After many years of serving as visiting faculty in Genetics at St. Georges University, she has been retired since 2016.
