Well known Valley Fiddler Keith Ross and his Winter Texan Friends Jay & Tammy Roy,plus Dave Lutz and Barry Helpard will present an evening of Country Music.
Born and raised in Hants Co, Keith is celebrating his fifty eighth year as an entertainer. Having started playing guitar in a dance band at the Dyke Dancehall in Falmouth in1952, then to playing fiddle in a Country band in 1956 doing shows and dances. Next came starting his own band The Novas in early 1970s and then to the 1980s when he got tired of the bar scene and started concentrating on fiddle shows, contests, recordings, etc.
In 1976 Keith and his family opened a full line music store, Ross Music Sales, New Minas, later expanding to Bridgewater and Halifax. In 1997 they sold the retail business and Keith was able to make performing a bigger priority.
Over the years music has taken Keith across Canada, the U.S., Europe and Asia. On several occasions the thought has come in his mind..."What in the world is a farm boy from Nova Scotia doing here. Playing on CBC television with the great Graham Townsend, who was the most popular fiddle player in Canada after Don Messer. In 1990, playing on stage in New York with Chubby Wise, Hank Snow's fiddle player who had also played with Bill Munroe and other stars, and again in 1995, playing on stage in Texas with the legendary Hank Thompson. In 1995, Keith Recorded in Nashville with some of the greatest musicians in the world.
Keith has received many awards, trophies and commendations including::
Curtis Hicks Memorial Award-for contribution to Fiddling... 1989
Tara Lynn Touesnard Memorial award-for contribution to Fiddling..1997.
Inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall ofFame-2007
Recognized and congratulated by Nova Scotia Legislature under resolution 1275...2007 Named Fiddle Player of the year by F.A.M.E. Organization in Southern U.S.-2008 Nominated for Western Swing Hall of Fame, Oklahoma.
Keith has released twelve audio recordings including a CD sampling
tunes/songs from 1952 to 2007,and one Video DVD sampling clips from some of the many shows he appeared on from 1983 to 2007.
