Part of our Moving Through grant is to host Book Talking Circles featuring Monique's book, Speaking Our Truth. This session will give book group leaders and others a way to frame discussions around Residential Schools and the other issues in the book.
Holding Space: Speaking Our Truth Book Talking Circles
This hour-long session will provide you with knowledge and tools to support you in holding space for the Book Talking Circles. Monique will begin with an overview on how stress & trauma can impact us and those in the circles; including an exploration of what happens in our bodies when we experience trauma. This will support you in understanding some of the dynamics that may unfold individually and collectively as you work through Speaking our Truth. Monique will share ideas for initiating conversations as well as strategies for holding space and ensuring the safety of all participating. Monique will also share stories and provide readings from Speaking our Truth.
