Guest Speaker, Craig Place. Topic: Making Environmentally Sustainability a Part of Your Business.

PLEASE RSVP tlfisk@ns.sympatico.ca

The Prime Minister of England said this month that the UK will have “a healthy, long-term recovery only if business leaders put the environment at the heart of corporate strategies.” Many businesses in Nova Scotia already consider the environment when it comes to doing business - but how do they make it a part of an ongoing strategy and how can they get employees involved? Join Craig Place, owner of Futurvue Communications, who will discuss these and other issues of doing business in a “carbon constrained” world, strategies to integrate sustainable thinking and actions throughout your company and how a move towards environmental sustainability can enhance your competitiveness and your bottom line!

Craig Place's Bio
Craig moved to the Annapolis Valley in 1988 where he taught for eight years in what is now the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Acadia University. He then joined the Acadia Institute for Teaching and Technology, becoming the manager and acting director. In 2008, after 20 years at Acadia University, he started Futurvue Communications which combined his knowledge and interest in our planet with his experience in technology and change management. Futurvue partnered with Green Building Services in Hong Kong to develop a “Green Starter Program” to help businesses effectively communicate to their employees how their actions at work impact the environment, how they can measure their work-related carbon footprint and set individual targets for change that will not only reduce company emissions but also save money.

Craig is a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, EKCC, the Environmental Services Association of Nova Scotia, BALLE NS and has certificates of completion for short courses in “Environmental Management Systems, Standards, Practices and Aspects” and “Environmental Auditing, Legislation, and Regulations”.
