Irish Mythen: Bio
Her earliest musical influences were sounds of Makem and Clancy, Planxty and Bob Dylan being played by her parents as they drove around the Caribbean island of Trinidad where she lived as a child. She later moved to the Middle East with her parents and this is where she took up the guitar, singing and writing songs.

After completing her secondary education Irish went on to the Ballyfermot “rock School” for 2 years where she studied musical performance as well as the practical side of the music industry.

1996 saw her based in Sweden to start what would be a 4 year tour of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and the U.K. She also started work on her debut album “Republic of One” which she recorded in Bohus Studios just outside Gothenburg, Sweden.

In 2000 she moved to Australia where she quickly established a large and loyal following. Again festivals and some large support slots would follow.

2003 saw the release of “Appreciate” on Myth Records

2006-Another move, this time to Canada to play The Stan Rogers Folk Festival in Canso,Nova Scotia. Again armed with her latest release: "Fallen Me" produced my Paul Mills. The E.P sold out over the weekend and so in 2007 off she went back to Toronto to record the full album "Sweet Necessity" again with Paul Mills.
Early sales indicate that this is the one that shall plant Irish firmly on the map of The Music Business!

She has shared the stage with such acts as The Dubliners, Gordie Sampson,Joel Plaskett, Bruce Guthro, Matt Anderson, Dave Gunning and according to her, her finest moment was "going on stage before the master Richie Haven, an utterly out of musical experience"

Irish has a way of delivering her songs that leave you wondering long after the show is over.

Tunes have been flowing from Anna’s fiddle since her early childhood in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She emerged onto the professional fiddle scene when she debuted as the principal fiddler for DRUM! in September 2005.

Anna’s tone is rooted in the style of traditional Cape Breton Celtic fiddle. Anna has always enjoyed sharing her sound in groups, first playing with local band ‘Jug in Hand’, before recording their album ‘Skullduggery and Prose’ in 1999. Anna next enjoyed a short stint with the band KILT, before beginning full-time studies at St. Francis Xavier University. Before graduating in 2005, along with solo gigs, she enjoyed playing with Maritime bands Barnacle and Banshee.

Since joining DRUM!, a critically acclaimed Halifax-based group and two-time ECMA nominee, and most recently a 2010 Juno Nominee for DVD of the year, Anna has launched a professional music career. In 2005, she gave an electrifying performance, opening for, and playing with, the Beach Boys. Further showcasing her talents at the East Coast Music Awards in both 2005 and 2006 as a solo artist, she also graced the ECMA main stage in 2006 with DRUM! Sense then she has shared the stage with many amazing artists such as Blue Rodeo, Ron Hynes, and most recently Don Ross.

Anna released her debut album, Reel to Reel, in March 2009. Reel to Reel was produced by Dave Burton and Anna Ludlow mixed and mastered at ECMA-winning Lakewind Sound Studios. Featuring the talents of Fred Lavery, Scott Macmillan, Dave MacIsaac, Wendy MacIsaac, David Burton and Jamie Gatti. This funky Celtic album combines Cape Breton-style fiddle with edgy contributions from drums, bass, piano, pipes and guitar. The standout track ‘Weeping Willow Tree’ gives us a glimpse of Anna’s immense vocal talents.
Reel to Reel has been nominated by Music Nova Scotia for 2009 Roots/Traditional recording of the year! As well as a East Coast Music Award nomination for 2009 Roots/Traditional Solo album of the year.

Anna currently lives in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. She is playing and promoting her new album around the province, and looks forward promoting it on her first USA tour this summer in June, 2010. She also looks forward to her 2010 Canadian and US tour with DRUM, where she will be going to Dollywood in Tennessee this Spring.
