Please join us for a series of ten workshops on Mondays beginning on March 14th, 2011. Making Art Mondays are a series of workshops presented by the Alliance of Kings Artists with support from the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism and Culture and the Acadia University Art Gallery. Each session is focused on a specific project and is facilitated by an artist. The workshops are for adults and are structured as completely hands-on and interactive. Collaboration and idea exchange are encouraged.

About this Workshop: Handmade Books: Turning the Page.

Participants will be introduced to some techniques involved in bookmaking, including folding and stitching. Each will make at least one book to take with them.

Facilitator: Kathleen Hull was apprenticed in needlework at an early age to three generations of Hull and Morrison women. She designed and built costumes for professional and university theatres for almost 20 years. In 1990 she turned her needle towards traditional quilting combining it with storytelling techniques to create coded visual narratives of women’s lives in literature and personal history.
