Wolfville artist and art instructor, Terry Drahos returned from the South of France with a renewed passion for post-impressionist painters. Thanks to the support of Harvest Gallery, Terry has been able to bring these painters to life for her young students in her popular After School Art Program.
During the six week program, the children explored paintings by Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Picasso. For example, using a photo of their own bedroom and Van Gogh's colour palette, the children created their own version of Van Gogh's Bedroom. Over the six week program, the children become quite accomplished at colour mixing, dry brushing, texturing, layering and reworking their paintings.
“I'm always delighted by the progress the children make and the excellent skill that's expressed in many of the paintings.”, says Terry.
This exhibit is a wonderful opportunity for the children to share their work in their very own art show. Meet Terry and the children and see Post-Impressionism from a child's perspective at their opening reception.
