Introductory Presentation
The initial presentation will cover the process of collaboration, the complexity of learning software and discovering new ways of using it. On display will be some of the equipment used to capture the field recordings. Original sounds will be paired with the resultant abstraction/alteration of the audio. Location photographs from various locations for the chosen sites as well as original sketches and paintings influenced by the manipulated audio will be shown.
Susan Tooke and Dillon Tonkin will explain some of the techniques used in the processing of images and sounds used in “Altered Vision/Altered Sound”. They will show how images can be produced from sound, and vice versa, and demonstrate some manipulations using various sources.
