Anatomy of a Print is part of an ongoing project the ‘Acadia Print Series,’ which researches and presents highlights of the Acadia University Art Gallery's permanent collection. There are over 1,700 works of art in the collection, with a particular strength in works on paper.
This exhibition will introduce visitors to both the ‘anatomy’ of a print by investigating a variety of printmaking techniques, such as etching, stonecut, serigraphy and woodblocks. A selection of artist printing plates will be on display, as well the exhibition will present works from the collection including works by Canadian artists Alex Colville and Mary Pratt as well as works by international artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Renee Magritte and early prints by Richard Short and James Gillray.
