Authors@Acadia is a year-long series of readings and presentations by authors in Canada and abroad. The events are hosted by the Department of English and Theatre at Acadia University, and are open to all members of the public. Books are available for sale at the Box of Delights and at the readings!

Patti LaBoucane-Benson has a PhD in Human Ecology, focusing on Aboriginal Family and Community Resilience. She has worked for Native Counselling Services of Alberta (NCSA) for 21 years and is currently the Director of Research, Training and Communication; she oversees the development and implementation of the historic trauma healing programs for NCSA. Dr. LaBoucane-Benson is also a mentor and lecturer for the Peter Lougheed Leadership College, and provides Historic Trauma-Informed Service delivery training for Legal Aid Alberta, The Edmonton Police Service and REACH Edmonton.

Based on her PhD research, The Outside Circle (2015, Anansi) is a work of creative non-fiction about healing and reconciliation for an inner-city Aboriginal family struggling with poverty, gang affiliation and hopelessness.

Kelly Mellings is an award-winning art director, illustrator, and designer. His work has appeared in comic books, magazines, apps, museum exhibits, and online games, and his clients include Microsoft and Bioware. He is the co-owner of the acclaimed illustration, animation, and design firm Pulp Studios. Kelly has just completed writing a historical graphic novel on Canada's fifth premier Sir Wilfrid Laurier and is currently co-writing the all ages graphic novel Hairoes of Haarwurzel. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta.
