Doors open at 6:45pm
This evenings program will consist of an all-Scriabin recital to mark the 100th anniversary year of his death. A part of the evening will be a short talk on Scriabin's mystical leanings, his heroic aspirations and how they manifested in different compositions.
Based in Europe, Canadian pianist Alan Fraser enjoys an international reputation both as a teacher and a performer. After studies in Montreal with Tom Plaunt and Phil Cohen, Alan moved to the former Yugoslavia in 1990 to collaborate with Kemal Gekić, a virtuoso whose transcendent technique he would imbibe and analyze on the way to forming his own approach.
Alan is best known for his landmark books, The Craft of Piano Playing, Honing the Pianistic Self-Image and All Thumbs: Well-Coordinated Piano Technique. These are now considered classics in the field and are sought after worldwide, with new translations into several languages appearing each year.
Alan is a respected digital-sound editor who works frequently with Kemal Gekić in Miami, Florida and he still lives and teaches in Serbia, where he is on staff at the University of Novi Sad.
