The Bela String Quartet brings together four talented instrumentalists to perform an afternoon of diverse and energetic repertoire. The program will include beloved string quartet works by Mozart and Borodin as well as less traditional pieces from the folk and pop worlds. This music promises an adventure through history, delighting audiences of all ages.

Founded in 2008, The Bela String Quartet brings together 4 musicians with diverse backgrounds and playing styles to form a classical crossover powerhouse, known for their moving and eclectic performances. Fiddler/ violinist Anthony Rissesco tours regularly with award-winning singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant and with roots-rock band Pogey. As a member of the neo-trad trio Papilio, Anthony has garnered ECMA and Nova Scotia Music Awards nominations. Anthony has played with Symphony Nova Scotia, Anne Murray, and Peggy Seeger. Fiddler/ violinist Anna Wedlock has worked with many East Coast artists including
Thomas Stajcer, Old Man Luedecke, J.P. Cormier, Gabriel Minnikin, The Big Country Ramblers, Dwight Deon, and composer David Christensen. Anna has also become a sought after arranger- recent collaborations include Willie Stratton’s album ​Della Rosa, ​Cassie Josephine’s album ​Only Half Blue​, and Terra Spencer’s single ​In the City. ​Originally from Newfoundland,violist Alexandra Bates has performed with the Atlantic String Quartet, the Blue Engine String Quartet, and Symphony Nova Scotia. Cellist Catherine Little has worked as an orchestral performer across Canada and South America as well as a pit band cellist in major musical theatre productions. She is a founding member of the Baroque N' Fiddle String Quartet and performs regularly with Basso Nova- a cello/ bass quartet
