Kingsport Emmanuel United (formerly Congregationalist) Church celebrates its 130th Anniversary. In celebrating the church’s history at its present location and building in the community, established in 1889, the congregation cordially invites others to share with them on this special day. The celebration will include a light-hearted attempt to recapture the spirit of the last meeting of the Congregational Union of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick which was held in the Kingsport Church, July 1-4, 1925. A playlet, “Gallons of Tea,” will include elements of the Sunday worship from the 1925 gathering – with liberties taken! Along with special musical performances by the Pereaux Church Choir and violinist, Jennifer Collishaw, many of the participants at the event will be in period costume. Others are encouraged to join in by dressing up to reflect the era – or just come and enjoy! In keeping with the theme, “Gallons of Tea,” tea will be served, along with refreshments. To complete this special day, a walk through the Habitant Cemetery at 5 p.m. will highlight some interesting and significant people from the church's history. All are welcome.
