Please meet in the field.
The Clean Annapolis River Project (CARP) is inviting farmers and producers to attend a demonstration tour of controlled tile drainage (CTD); a beneficial farming practice that uses in-line water level control structures on artificial field drainage to manage groundwater levels in fields. Learn how this practice can reduce water use for irrigation, moderate runoff in stormwater events, and adapt farm operations to the effects of climate change. Guest speaker Sam Battaglia from Coastal Action will teach about carbon sequestration techniques to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions on your farm, as well as methods to support biodiversity. Other speakers TBA. Tour begins at 2pm at a Spurr Brothers Farm field in Wilmot. Registration is required, directions provided with registration. Contact project coordinator Marissa at marissamurphy@annapolisriver.ca or call the CARP office (902) 532-7533 to register or to learn more.
