One-day workshop, where each participant will create a basket woven with locally foraged plant fibres, led by plant fibre artist Ralph Simpson. Experience level is beginner but intermediate students can be challenged with advanced weaving techniques.
Learn about plant fibres, their names, how to collect them, process, store, and prepare them for weaving as well as important aspects of environmentally sustainable collection methods.
Ralph provides all materials for this workshop and students are asked to bring scissors, measuring tape, spray bottle if you have one, and a tea towel.
Please bring your own lunch, snacks, and water.
Optional -
Ralph invites you to bring any plant fibres or other textiles that you might like to incorporate into your basket.
