The topic:
In 1895, on a hilltop in Ardoise, a farmer named James Albert Marriette found a mysteriously engraved piece of slate. There is some postulation that the engravings on the slate are indicative of 16th century explorations and early attempts at settlement by the Portuguese in the province. But there are connections to the early days of the Acadians and the Mi'kmaq as well.

The speaker:
Terry Deveau is an amateur historian and archaeologist who is active in the exploration, documentation and preservation of ancient stone and earthwork structures in Nova Scotia.
Terry has been featured as a consultant on several TV shows, including Land and Sea (CBC), Jump-in! (Eastlink), and the Curse of Oak Island (History Channel).
