This is a walking series for women and girls+ 14 years and older to discover the wonder, joy, and connection of the outdoors.
The hikes are geared to beginners; however, a base level of fitness is required. Participants should be able to walk consistently for 1 hour at a comfortable pace on uneven ground. Please wear appropriate footwear (no sandals). Dogs are not allowed on these hikes (with the exception of certified service dogs).
We will meet at the small parking lot at end of Oak Island Road in Avonport near the dykes. The walk will involve dykes, both wooded and agricultural dirt roads, and potentially a beach destination if the group is interested and takes 45 to 1 hour to complete. It is possible to extend the walk a bit if the group unanimously decides to do so. This walk has been postponed twice; hopefully, the weather will cooperate this time! If the forecast calls for too much wind by Friday, Nov 28th, the destination will be changed to a sheltered walk and the people who have RSVPed for this walk will be notified.
