This summer, communities around the Minas Basin will come together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the KIPAWO ferry, which began service on May 1, 1926.
Built specifically to connect Wolfville, Kingsport, and Parrsboro, the KIPAWO was the last of over 30 ferries to serve the Minas Basin. She became an enduring symbol of connection and remains one of the region's most beloved vessels.
Each event will feature local speakers, historical displays, opportunities to share memories and photographs, and a special commemorative KIPAWO 100 cake.
Residents with photographs, memorabilia, or personal stories related to the KIPAWO are especially encouraged to attend and help preserve this shared history for future generations.
