The New Booker School is offering an “IB” Christmas Camp for students in grades K-6 on Monday, Dec 19 – Wednesday, Dec 21 from 9am – 3pm.
Using the curriculum given us by our mentor school Stratford Hall World School in Vancouver, International Baccalaureate teachers Amy Long (K-1), Cara Killham (2-3) and Simon Mainwaring (4-6) with Temma Frecker( languages) and Rachel Reeve (art) will lead students in a very hands-on, inquiry-based exploration of the question: How do our actions impact on our environment?
Field trips, guest speakers (including Hope for Wildlife), art and technology as well as Mandarin, Spanish and French are elements in the 3-day camp.
This is an opportunity for parents and students to see what Problem or Inquiry-Based Learning is all about. Parents are invited to speak with teachers at the end of each day, view work online and to attend an individual student-led presentation at 2:30 pm the final afternoon.
Cost is $35 per day or $105.00 – roughly the daily cost a Founding Family would pay to attend the New Booker School. There is a limited enrollment of 30 students.
The New Booker is scheduled to open in Wolfville, Nova Scotia in September 2012 and is the first school in the Maritimes committed to becoming an accredited IB World School for students in K- grade 8.
For more information and a registration form go to: www.newbookerschool.ca or email Johanna Mercer at johwho@gmail.com or call 902-585-5000.
