Dark Sky Weekend
Friday August 10, 2012  8pm - 10:30pm (2 Hours 30 Minutes)
 [email protected]

Join Parks Canada on August 10 – 12 at Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic site for Dark Sky Weekend, conveniently scheduled around Saturday August 11, the absolute peak of the Perseid Meteor Showers! Kejimkujik has recently been designated as a Dark Sky Preserve (the only one in Nova Scotia!), and thus its dark sky will give everyone an incredible view of the showers. To make this experience even better, the Moon is actually out of the evening sky on Saturday (making it significantly darker), and Parks Canada interpreters will be joined by members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) to guide viewers. A number activities will also be taking place throughout the weekend, and RASC telescopes will be available each evening at 9:30pm for public observing. Regular admission fees apply; for a detailed schedule of events, visit www.pc.gc.ca/keji.
