"Torture in the Canadian Context: How Close to Home is it?" Public talk by Jeanne Sarson and Linda MacDonald, two nurses who work with survivors of non-state actor torture, which is torture “committed by parents, spouses, other kin, guardians, neighbours, trusted adults, or strangers in the private sphere, for example, in homes, warehouses, cabins, rented buildings, in fields, or in various public and private places.” They are also activists who have advocated for the recognition of domestic abuse as torture at the UN. Come and hear their story and learn about this pressing issue. All Welcome.
