April 6th - April 28th
Jeanne's early work focused on horses and what they symbolized to her. Then, in the late 1990's she began exploring landscapes and working with fields of color that resonate together. Neither busy nor cluttered, her landscapes capture and preserve recognizable local structures. These paintings which combine vibrant and often whimsical color with the traditional architecture found in rural settings, result in a unique and unexpected feeling of balance and harmony.
This show has given me the opportunity to return to the subjects I love. They are all part and parcel of my life - whether it be forest, farm, flowers and horses. They are all aspects of self and I have been fortunate to explore these themes. Colour, as always, is joyful and I hope that I have brought that to the canvas for the viewer. - Jeanne Aisthorpe-Smith
