Debut Atlantic - Tour 3 - Alexander Sevastian, bajan (classical accordion)
Alexander Sevastian is the three-time first prize winner of the International Accordion Competition. He won Norway's Oslofjord Accordion Competition (1988), Russia's Cup of the North (2000), the 2001 Anthony Galla-Rini Accordion Competition (USA), and the 2007 Coupe Mondiale (USA). Alex was born in Minsk, Belarus and began his accordion studies at the age of seven. In 1991 he attended the Glinka Musical College in Minsk. His advanced studies took him to the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow where he received his Masters degree (performance), studying with renowned performer and pedagogue, Friedrich Lips. While at the Academy, Alex also studied piano, conducting, and philosophy. He began his professional career in Moscow in 1996, performing with the Russian Radio Orchestra with which he toured as a soloist throughout Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, and Japan. Alex is also a very active recitalist and chamber musician.
