SPEAKER: Chris & David Sheppard created FUNDY ROCKS to share the geological and natural beauty of this area through photography and rock hounding with education as their primary goal. While they are not geologists their intent is to share basic information in layperson’s terms, focusing on the adventure & the challenges of hiking these shores. Through their presentations they introduce people to the Blomidon/Cape Split Peninsula and illustrate through photos and narrative why it is such a treasure trove of collectible rocks. Some of the world’s best sites for gems & minerals are Scott’s Bay, Ross Creek, Blomidon, Amethyst Cove, Lobster Hole, Little Split Cove, & The Big Eddy.
Chris and David are a non-profit organization, do not sell rocks and are not professional guides. Chris does, however, exhibit & sell photographic prints, through Rick’s Frame & Art in New Minas.
The Newcomers’ Club welcomes all residents of the Annapolis Valley. You do not have to be a newcomer to join the group – long time residents are welcome too!
They feature informative speakers on topics of local interest. Members can participate in the many interest groups, from wine tasting and biking to gourmet cooking and theatre going. This is a great place to meet people, learn about the area and forge a sense of community.
